The church of Waabs

The oldest parts of the present church in Waabs date back to the Gothic period and acquired their present form with the construction of the tower at the end of the 16th century and the vaulting of the nave with three transverse rectangular cross-ribbed vaults in 1608. The church houses several remarkable works of art, including a series of Gothic wooden sculptures. These are likely remnants of a large altar dedicated to the Virgin Mary, created around 1460.

Gut Damp

The exact start of construction of the estate is unknown. In the 15th century, the estate belonged to the Bishops of Schleswig. Eler Schmidt is known as the tenant in 1438. His duties included clearing the forest and building a house. He also entertained the bishop's hunting guests. In 1517, the estate was first referred to as Damp, but the origin of the name is unknown. From 1519 to 1626, the estate belonged to the Wisch family. The current manor house was built during this period, from 1595 to 1597, under the patronage of Melchior von der Wisch.
